BC Hydro brings EV chargers to Abbotsford, Surrey, Courtenay ICBC centres
BC Hydro and ICBC unveiled eight new charging ports for electric vehicles at Surrey's ICBC Claim Centre, which can add 180 kilometres in just 10 minutes of charging.
Garry Begg stated that the new charging stations aim to make electric vehicles more affordable and accessible to all residents in B.C.
The number of electric vehicles in B.C. has tripled since 2019, with over 180,000 currently on the roads, and this may reach 900,000 in the next decade.
BC Hydro plans to increase its EV charging ports from 432 to 800 by spring 2026, with future installations in Port Moody, Maple Ridge, and Vancouver.
