B.C. first responders and legion welcomes the Rolling Barrage
About 170 riders will be welcomed with a barbecue, speeches and an anniversary beer as the cross-Canada ride raises PTSD awareness and funds support programs.
- About 170 motorcyclists will arrive in Aldergrove on Saturday, Aug. 22, completing the Rolling Barrage Foundation's 22-day, 10-province cross-Canada journey. The event marks the ride's 10th anniversary, concluding at Royal Canadian Legion Branch 265.
- This cross-country initiative raises awareness for post-traumatic stress while funding programs supporting Canadian Armed Forces members and first responders. Volunteer Dennis Bell, a former Canadian Armed Forces member, helps organize the ride.
- President Debra Gray of Royal Canadian Legion Branch 265 noted the branch has donated about $13,000 annually for the past three years. This year, the organization surpassed that fundraising total through 50/50 draws, raffles, and member donations.
- Upon arrival, a courtesy bus will transport riders to the legion for a celebratory barbecue, awards ceremony, and speeches. Attendees can also purchase the Rolling Barrage anniversary beer, created by Dead Frog Brewery earlier this year.
- Service officer Doug Hadley encouraged residents to greet the riders, emphasizing that the event honors both deployed Canadian Armed Forces members and local first responders like Langley City Fire. His call reflects broader community support for the initiative.
