Conservatives Remain Ahead in Polls as B.C. Election Day Nears
Latest polls put the Conservatives ahead by 3 to 6 points, but analysts say the NDP can still win with a late surge.
The B.C. Conservatives maintain a polling lead three days before the provincial election, with surveys from Angus Reid Institute and Mainstreet Research showing them ahead of the NDP by three to six percentage points.
Premier David Eby called a snap election one month ago, but the NDP likely relied on outdated polling data measuring the Conservatives under former leader Kerry-Lynne Findlay rather than current interim leader Lorrene Doerkson.
Angus Reid Institute polling shows Conservatives at 43 to 49 per cent support, while the NDP ranges from 40 to 46 per cent and the Greens have polled between eight and 15 per cent.
Party leaders have focused intensely on Surrey and Metro Vancouver this week; polling analyst Philippe Fournier warned that if Surrey turns Conservative and Metro Vancouver tightens, the NDP lacks a path to govern.
Fournier said the NDP needs "a strong push in the final days" to retain office, as a Conservative government appears likely Saturday if polling holds and final data emerging Friday confirms current trends.
