BBC Radio 2's Tina Daheley Leaves Breakfast Show Ahead of Sara Cox Era
On Tuesday, presenter Tina Daheley announced she is stepping down from the BBC Radio 2 Breakfast Show after more than seven years, calling the role one of the "greatest privileges" of her career.
Daheley's departure coincides with Sara Cox's upcoming launch as the new Breakfast Show host on July 6, with Oscar-winning actor Tom Hanks joining Cox as her first studio guest.
Clarifying her future, Daheley confirmed she is not leaving BBC Radio 2 entirely; she will continue covering the Jeremy Vine show and appearing on BBC One later this year.
Former Radio 2 breakfast host Zoe Ball replied, "Love you Tina. I can highly recommend the later start to your day," while colleague Dermot O'Leary shared his congratulations.
Reflecting on 18 years of broadcasting across various breakfast programs, Daheley said she is looking forward to a "lie-in" after working on 1Xtra and Radio 1 before joining BBC Radio 2.
