BBC Look East Presenter Susie Fowler-Watt Announces Departure After 35 Years to Pursue New Career
She will end a 35-year broadcasting career and focus on psychotherapy after interviewing eight prime ministers, the BBC said.
On Friday, December 18, BBC Look East presenter Susie Fowler-Watt will host her final programme, concluding a 35-year broadcasting career to focus on her work as a psychotherapist.
Fowler-Watt began her career at BBC Radio Surrey in 1991 before joining Look East in 1997, where she spent 23 years co-presenting with Stewart White from St Catherine's Close and later The Forum.
Over three decades, she interviewed eight Prime Ministers and covered major events including the Soham murders, the Covid pandemic, and the death of Queen Elizabeth II. She also reported on regional stars like Ed Sheeran and Sam Ryder.
"I have absolutely loved the job, but I'm now in a new chapter of life," Fowler-Watt said, describing the 18:30 regional news programme as a "privilege" that connected her with community members.
Fowler-Watt credited the "team game" of television production for the programme's success. Robert Thompson, Director of Production for BBC Local, called her "a trusted voice through both good times and challenging moments.
