Batmobile Spotted on Glasgow Streets as Batman Sequel Filming Set to Get Underway
Production crews are turning city streets into Gotham as road closures and set dressing prepare Glasgow for a three-week shoot.
On Monday, the Batmobile arrived in Glasgow as production for The Batman Part II officially begins today, Tuesday, August 18, 2026, with the vehicle unloaded in the city centre.
Director Matt Reeves returned to Glasgow to transform the city into Gotham, citing its "beautiful Gothic architecture," following the city's previous roles in The Batman and The Dark Knight Rises.
Filming spans three weeks across Bothwell Street and Kingston Bridge, with dozens of road closures in place through September affecting residents and fans hoping to spot stars Robert Pattinson and Scarlett Johansson.
Production vehicles bear signs for "Semper Vigilans," a rumored working title, alongside "Gotham Water and Power" vans and canopies for 'Lacy's,' a location with little reference in Batman lore.
Fans must wait until February 18, 2028, for the film's theatrical release, as production joins Glasgow's recent history of major studio shoots including Spider-Man: A Brand New Day.
