Rescuers found the body of a 59-year-old firefighter in the Foggia region of Apulia today, whose vehicle was swept away by water while rescuing drivers in trouble.
The 59-year-old man's SUV was swept away by water near the municipality of San Severo, the authorities said. The fireman drowned while trying to help other drivers. He was due to retire soon.
