Federal Minister of Labour Bas defended the pension package decided by the cabinet in the day-to-day issues. One had to give stability to early retirees. However, the system had to do justice to the younger ones as well.
In the midst of the economic crisis, Germany is entering the hot phase of demographic change. When Labour Minister Bärbel Bas removes the demographic factor from the pension formula right now, she endangers the system.
It is going to be expensive, as much is already clear: the Federal Government is launching the billion-dollar package to secure the pension level and to extend the mother's pension. The costs are entirely borne by the federal budget - and thus by the taxpayers.
Today for SPD and CSU it is supposed to be almost Christmas: the one government party wants to get its pension guarantee on the way, the other its mother's pension III. Unfortunately, both social projects have completely fallen out of time.
