- The Obamas launched Higher Ground in 2018 on an exclusive Netflix deal, then transitioned to a first-look agreement in 2024 as the company expanded its distribution strategy.
- Higher Ground has 24 greenlit projects, including the Oscar-winning documentary American Factory and the scripted work Rustin, which explores the life of civil rights figure Bayard Rustin.
- While continuing some collaborations with Netflix, the company plans to work with multiple studios, including HBO on the upcoming series Life, Larry and the Pursuit of Unhappiness.
- The company intends to "lift up some stories that help make America look at itself," pursuing diverse partnerships as its Netflix contract concludes later this year.
