- This incident followed the Friday assassination of Benue State Chairman of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria , Alhaji Ardo Risku Muhammad, who was ambushed after attending a police-arranged peace meeting.
- While locals reported at least 10 deaths, Katsina-Ala Local Government Area Chairman Justine Shaku confirmed six fatalities and Police Public Relations Officer DSP Udeme Edet cited five; gunmen separately abducted a cleric and two others on Tuesday.
- The Governor ordered security agencies to launch a "manhunt for the perpetrators of this heinous crime to ensure they are brought to face the wrath of the law." Aide Tersoo Kula identified the attackers as "terrorists masquerading as herdsmen."
