- On May 8, Telangana police booked Bandi Sai Bhageerath, son of Union Minister of State for Home Bandi Sanjay Kumar, under the POCSO Act for allegedly sexually assaulting a 17-year-old girl.
- Bhageerath claimed the girl's family coerced him into marriage and blackmailed him, alleging they demanded Rs 5 crore before he paid them Rs 50,000.
- Police are actively searching for the accused, with DCP Ritiraj stating on Tuesday, "We are sure to nab him soon." Bhageerath has moved the Telangana High Court for interim bail, with a hearing scheduled for tomorrow.
- The Bharat Rashtra Samithi accused the Congress government under Chief Minister Revanth Reddy of "shielding" the accused, while the BJP described the case as "politically motivated."
- Addressing the Hindu Ekta Yatra in Karimnagar on Tuesday, Bandi Sanjay Kumar defended his son's innocence, vowing to "expose and dismantle the networks built on corruption and conspiracy" targeting his family.
