Seven Injured in Attack on Balochistan Home Minister’s Convoy in Mastung
Police said seven people, including three Anti-Terrorism Force personnel, were injured and the attackers fled after a 20-minute exchange of fire.
- On Friday, unidentified gunmen attacked the convoy of Balochistan Home and Tribal Affairs Minister Mir Ziaullah Langau in Mastung, injuring seven people including three Anti-Terrorism Force personnel while the minister escaped unhurt.
- The ambush occurred at Kund Umarani in the Khad Koocha area, south of Mastung, as Langau traveled to Quetta after attending an Independence Day ceremony at the Deputy Commissioner's Office in Kalat.
- Officers engaged the attackers for around 20 minutes, forcing the assailants to flee the scene, while injured personnel were transported to Shaheed Nawab Ghous Bakhsh Raisani Memorial Hospital for treatment.
- Langau later visited the hospital, calling the attack "cowardly" and stating "such acts would not weaken the resolve of the government" in the fight against terrorism.
- Home Department aide Babar Yousafzai condemned the attack, alleging the convoy was targeted by "Fitna al-Hindustan", while police launched a detailed investigation into the incident.
