Ayodhya Lights up with over 30 Lakh Diyas on Diwali Eve, CM Yogi Attends 10th Edition of Deepotsav
- Ayodhya celebrated its 10th Deepotsav on Saturday, illuminating the temple town with more than 30 lakh diyas on the eve of Diwali; Vice-President Radhakrishnan, Uttar Pradesh Governor Anandiben Patel, and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath attended the festivities.
- Deepotsav has grown from around 1.71 lakh diyas in its first edition in 2017, recreating the return of Lord Ram to Ayodhya after 14 years of exile. The festival commemorates this sacred narrative each year.
- More than 35,000 volunteers lit diyas across 56 ghats along the Saryu, while a 2,100-drone show depicted the Ramayana and performances by artists from five countries enriched the celebration.
- Members of the Prayagraj-based Rashtriya Muslim Sangh participated in the Shobha Yatra procession. Former litigant Iqbal Ansari stated, "I, along with the residents of my locality, showered floral petals on the 'Shobha Yatra' as it crossed our locality around 12:00 noon."
- While the festival has secured Guinness World Records three times, officials now aim to build upon these achievements. Moving forward, these accomplishments will be recognized as 'Ayodhya Records' to honor the town's sustained efforts.
