At an avalanche in the Tux Alps, two ski touring enthusiasts from the district of Schwaz died on Saturday. The 44 and 47-year-old locals were rescued dead after a large-scale search on Sunday in the municipality of Tux.
Two ski tourers, aged 44 and 47, died in an avalanche on Saturday in the Tux Alps, in the municipality of Tux (Schwaz district). The bodies of the two local men were found on Sunday during a large-scale search operation in an avalanche debris field. Police reported that the avalanche likely caught and buried the two men while they were ascending the high Tamlspitze peak (2,608 meters).
Since Saturday evening, an extensive search operation with mountain rescue and alpine police has been running in Tux. After an avalanche in the area of the Tamlspitze two people had been reported as obsolete.
