Authorities say 257 people rescued off Crete in one day amid migration surge

A surge in migration across the Mediterranean Sea from Libya has seen another 134 people being rescued off inflatable dinghies south of Crete Monday, the Coast Guard said Wednesday, revising up the number of arrivals for that day to 257.
