Smotherman Makes It Two Wins in a Row on PGA Tour with Playoff Victory over Seamus Power
Smotherman earned his second straight FedEx Cup Fall victory and first weather-shortened PGA Tour title since 2024, officials said.
On Monday, Austin Smotherman captured the Butterfield Bermuda Championship in Southampton, Bermuda, defeating Seamus Power of Ireland on the third playoff hole after Sunday's final round was abandoned due to high winds.
High winds rendered Port Royal unplayable on Sunday, forcing the final round's cancellation and sending Smotherman and Power back Monday tied at 16-under 197 to resolve the championship on the par-3 16th hole.
Smotherman banked $1,080,000 for his second consecutive FedEx Cup Fall victory, which secures him a spot in the $20 million signature events at Pebble Beach and Riviera next year.
Power earned $654,000, propelling him from 103rd to inside the top 60 on the FedEx Fall standings and guaranteeing the 39-year-old Irishman a full PGA Tour card for 2027.
Looking ahead, the Irishman said, "I'll move onwards, a lot of positives from the week," while planning back-to-back tournaments in Mexico, starting with the Mexico Open and World Wide Technology tournament.
