Audible's New Feature Lets You Read and Listen to Your Favorite Books at the Same Time
Audible's new feature syncs audiobook narration with Kindle eBook text to boost engagement and accessibility, with users consuming nearly twice the content per month, Audible said.
On Feb. 18, 2026, Audible launched the Read & Listen feature in the U.S., syncing audiobook narration with highlighted Kindle ebook text in real time inside the Audible app, requiring users to own both formats.
Audible says Read & Listen promotes engagement by letting users hear and visualize words, with research and Audible's internal data showing better retention and twice the content consumption per month, aiding students, people with dyslexia, ADHD, low vision, and language learners.
The feature highlights text word-by-word in real time and offers one-tap toggle between Listen and Read & Listen, with hundreds of thousands of titles in English, German, Spanish, Italian, and French.
Rolling out now in the U.S., Audible tests physical-book purchase links via Amazon for select customers and says the feature won’t affect publishers' royalty payments.
Previously, the Kindle app offered Whispersync for Voice and Read & Listen, while competitors like Spotify tested Page Match last month and added physical-book purchase features, echoing Audible's Amazon integration.
