Norcross Family Buys Former Trump Plaza Site Along Atlantic City Boardwalk
The buyers have not announced redevelopment plans, and Atlantic City leaders say the oceanfront property could draw new investment.
On Wednesday, South Jersey power broker George Norcross, his two children, and partners purchased the former Trump Plaza site in Atlantic City. The oceanfront property has remained vacant since the 39-story tower was imploded in 2021.
Billionaire Carl Icahn previously controlled the property, which was one of three Atlantic City casinos once owned by President Donald Trump before he became president. The main tower was demolished following years of inactivity.
Atlantic County property records show three sales recorded on Sept. 3 associated with the 2201 Boardwalk site, totaling $5.04 million, $1.26 million, and $349,541. Atlantic City Mayor Marty Small confirmed no additional casinos will be permitted there.
Praising the deal, Small stated that "investor confidence in Atlantic City is at an all-time high." Redevelopment plans remain pending, with officials promising detailed announcements at a later date.
The premier oceanfront location sat idle for 12 years before this acquisition, signaling renewed investor interest in Atlantic City's development potential. The transaction positions the city as an emerging destination for major business leaders.
