Atlantic Beach budget impasse continues; interim spending authority gets OK
Atlantic Beach failed to give first-reading approval to a proposed $1.3 million fiscal year 2027 budget for the second week in a row. The Atlantic Beach Town Council deadlocked 2-2 once again after a lively public hearing and intense debate. Council members Carla Taylor and Edward Campbell voted in favor while Mayor Pro Tem John David and Councilwoman Jaqueline Gore voted no. That was identical to how they voted in a special meeting on June 22.
