AT&T Data Breach Settlement Payments Start Soon. Here's What to Know
Eligible AT&T customers who filed claims may receive payments within weeks after the court approved the deal without an admission of liability.
The U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Texas, Dallas Division, granted final approval of a $177 million settlement on October 2, resolving class-action lawsuits over two 2024 AT&T data breaches without the company admitting liability.
Litigation followed two 2024 data incidents: a March breach exposing personal information and a July download from a Snowflake, Inc. cloud workspace, with plaintiffs alleging AT&T failed to implement adequate cybersecurity measures.
Eligible customers impacted by the March incident may claim up to $5,000 for documented losses, while those affected by the July breach can claim up to $2,500; qualifying members may alternatively receive tiered cash payments.
Payments will arrive within 60 days of the "Effective Date," provided no appeals are filed; if unchallenged, the effective date is estimated for November 12, with distribution following shortly thereafter.
Because the December 18, 2025, filing deadline has passed, AT&T customers cannot submit new claims, though they can monitor status updates via the official settlement website and should remain cautious of unsolicited messages requesting personal information.
