ASIC Won't Pursue Insider Trading Case Against WiseTech's Richard White

ASIC said it will take no further action against Richard White and two WiseTech employees after a probe into share trading worth more than $200 million.

  • On Thursday, the Australian Securities and Investments Commission ended its insider trading investigation into WiseTech Global co-founder and former chairman Richard White and two other employees.
  • The regulator began the inquiry after reports revealed White sold more than 1.8 million WiseTech shares, worth more than $200 million, during a company blackout period spanning December 2024 to February 2025.
  • White maintained he obtained legal advice before the trades, while ASIC noted its decision to take no further action "should not be interpreted as making any finding about the conduct concerned."
  • Although the probe into White ended, ASIC spokesperson Sitthixay Ditthavong said the investigation into one remaining unnamed employee "remains ongoing," adding the regulator could not comment further.
  • The Australian Financial Review first identified White as one of the three employees, though ASIC did not publicly name the individual still under investigation or specify which employees were involved.
