Ashkelon mayor Tomer Glam faces corruption probe over war donations
Police suspect that millions of shekels donated to Ashkelon during the war, when the city was under heavy rocket fire from Gaza, were diverted from a community fund for the personal benefit of Glam, his family and close associates
The name was allowed to be published after he was detained for questioning along with other senior officials in the municipality on suspicion of pocketing donations made for the welfare of Ashkelon residents in the wake of the war.
It is suspected that funds donated to the municipality for the welfare of residents during the war were transferred to a community fund, and from there into the private pockets of Glam and his associates. Five of his assistants, heads of departments in the municipality and local businessmen were arrested alongside him.
