UPDATE 1:21 p.m. Jan. 24: The Hawaii Police Department reports that Highway 11 is closed in both directions in Puna and Ka‘u District near the 24.5-mile marke rat the solid waste transfer station and in Hawaii Volcanoes National Park at the 32-mile marker due to ashfall.
