Arteta 'not positive' after Odegaard sets unwanted injury record

Arsenal won 2-0 despite captain Martin Odegaard being substituted before halftime for the third consecutive home Premier League game due to recurring injuries, manager Mikel Arteta said.

  • On Oct 4, 2025 Arsenal captain Martin Odegaard left the pitch after 30 minutes with a left-knee issue during Arsenal's 2-0 home win over West Ham United at the Emirates Stadium, and Martin Zubimendi replaced him as he went for treatment.
  • After earlier shoulder setbacks in August and September, Odegaard had a recurrence against Nottingham Forest last month and then suffered a knee-on-knee clash with West Ham winger Crysencio Summerville.
  • Odegaard has managed just five starts this season, starting only half of Arsenal's 10 games and becoming the first Premier League player subbed before halftime in three consecutive home starts.
  • Arteta said `No, he's not alright, because he asked me to come off`, adding Odegaard is an early doubt for Norway's games and may need assessment before the Fulham match on October 18, 2025.
  • In the wider squad picture, Noni Madueke and Piero Hincapie are expected back later this month, while Kai Havertz and Gabriel Jesus remain longer-term absences.
