Arrests at pro-Palestinian protest after violence flares in Pakistan’s eastern city of Lahore
Over 100 arrests followed violent protests that injured 112 police officers and caused extensive damage to public infrastructure, officials said.
- On October 11, 2025, DIG Operations Lahore Faisal Kamran condemned violent protests in Lahore and said authorities arrested more than 100 people after peaceful efforts failed.
- Supporters of Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan sought to march from Lahore to Islamabad in solidarity with Palestinians, but authorities said they lacked permission and urged postponement of the protest.
- So far, 112 Lahore police personnel have been injured and some are missing, while police used tear gas, batons, canisters and rubber bullets during clashes with supporters who damaged police stations and seized vehicles.
- Authorities are reviewing Safe City surveillance footage to identify perpetrators and take legal action; major roads to Islamabad are blocked with shipping containers, mobile internet services suspended, and schools and intercity transport closed.
- Lahore, city with a population of more than 14 million, is feeling strain as residents described city under siege and TLP, prominent in 2018 elections, was outlawed in 2020 before the ban lifted.
