Arkansas school districts allowing hundreds of third graders to advance despite state rule on literacy tests | Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette

In two Central Arkansas school districts, almost half of the third graders who did not pass an end-of-year literacy test were granted exemptions from Arkansas' new requirement that they be held back next year. And in the Springdale School District, the state's largest, almost 97% of the hundreds of students who fell short of the literacy standards were given an exemption.
