FORDYCE, ARKANSAS, JUL 21 – Travis Eugene Posey admitted to killing four and attempting to kill 11 others in a mass shooting at an Arkansas grocery store, with sentencing set for Aug. 4, officials said.
- Travis Posey pleaded guilty to four counts of capital murder and 11 counts of attempted capital murder for the June 2024 mass shooting at Fordyce's Mad Butcher grocery store.
- The state is seeking life sentences for the four murder convictions and 20 years each for the attempted murder convictions, according to 13th District Prosecutor Jeff Rogers.
- During the shooting, which took place in the middle of the day, Posey used a 12-gauge shotgun and a pistol.
- Authorities noted Posey had limited to no criminal history before the shooting, although he had a prior arrest in 2011 for misdemeanor criminal possession of a weapon.
