More than 300 families in Arcata, in the province of Condesuyos, have been waiting for a response from the authorities for about a year after arsenic was detected in the water they consume from the Huisca Huisca lagoon. The inhabitants attribute the contamination to more than 70 years of mining activity in the area and warn that the problem already reaches the health of the inhabitants, water sources, grasslands and livestock of the area.
