[Yomiuri Shimbun] Local governments are increasingly removing nude statues in parks, in front of train stations, and on bridges, claiming they are inappropriate for public spaces. The nude statues were erected all over the country as "symbols of peace" to replace statues of soldiers that were removed after the war, but there are complaints that they are "outdated" and "unsuitable for display in museums."
