Siri AI Is Coming to Newer Apple Devices only, Here’s the Full List
Siri now supports natural conversation, personal context and app actions after Apple partnered with Google on Gemini models.
- Apple released the AI-supported Siri in the consumer beta build of iOS 27 in July. The assistant now understands personal context, taps into broad world knowledge, and surfaces relevant information stored on Apple products.
- These improvements stem from Apple partnership with Google, using Gemini models to train proprietary Apple Foundation Models. The system runs on Silicon and Private Cloud Compute infrastructure to ensure capabilities function as promised.
- Users can now have natural, back-and-forth conversations with Siri to find receipts, photos, and emails without specifying their location. The assistant can also launch websites, edit photos, and brainstorm ideas, fixing longstanding performance failures.
- While Siri now successfully executes requests, the release feels somewhat anticlimactic, as being a functional AI helper is no longer revolutionary. Apple essentially fixed a "forever-broken" assistant rather than introducing a breakthrough.
- The overhauled assistant requires newer hardware, with select features limited to Mac models with Silicon and at least 12GB of unified memory. The general public gains access when Apple officially releases the update this fall.
