Apple to Pay $250m to iPhone Buyers over AI Features Lawsuit
Eligible U.S. iPhone owners could receive at least $25 per device under the deal, with payments rising to $95 if claims are light.
On Tuesday, Apple Inc. agreed to a $250 million settlement to resolve a class action lawsuit alleging the company misled consumers about Apple Intelligence features on iPhone 16 and iPhone 15 Pro models.
Plaintiffs claimed Apple "saturated the internet, television, and other airwaves" with advertising for an advanced Siri that did not exist when the iPhone 16 launched in September 2024.
Eligible purchases between June 10, 2024, and March 29, 2025, qualify for payouts ranging from $25 to $95 per eligible device, depending on claim volume.
Apple denies wrongdoing in the settlement agreement; however, U.S. District Court Judge Noël Wise must still approve the motion before relief reaches consumers and businesses.
The company plans to release new Siri features this year through a partnership with Google, utilizing Gemini models to integrate capabilities across Apple devices.
