Apple disables Siri AI waitlist in iOS 27, with one exception
A newly updated support document says Siri AI now downloads right away for compatible users, with a waitlist used only when server demand is high.
- Apple removed the waitlist for Siri AI on iOS 27, allowing eligible users immediate access to the feature. The company now deploys the waitlist only during periods of "high demand," per an updated support document.
- When Siri AI launched in iOS 27 earlier this fall, Apple implemented a waitlist to manage server performance during rollout. The generative AI assistant was originally revealed at the Worldwide Developers Conference in June.
- Users with compatible devices, including iPhone 15 Pro or newer, enable the feature through the Settings app. Siri AI draws on personal context across Calendar, Mail, and Photos to perform complex tasks.
- CEO John Ternus stated on Monday that the assistant is "built on a modern, orchestrator-driven architecture" with room to expand capabilities. Ternus noted the feature remains request-based today but designed for future growth.
- The feature remains in beta and is unavailable in China or for users within the European Union. Supported devices require specific language settings including English, French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, or Spanish.
