App Store ecosystem generated $1.4 trillion in 2025, 90% commission-free
Apple said 90% of the $1.4 trillion in App Store billings and sales came from commission-free transactions.
On Thursday, Apple reported its App Store ecosystem facilitated $1.4 trillion in developer billings and sales during 2025, a milestone released ahead of the Worldwide Developers Conference next week.
Apple noted that 90% of the $1.4 trillion involved transactions where developers paid no commission, with the 2025 total including $1.1 trillion in physical goods and $149 billion in digital goods.
Notably, apps with consumer-facing AI capabilities saw stronger billing growth than others, while the store served over 850 million average weekly users across 175 countries and regions.
"Developers are the heartbeat of the App Store, and this year's incredible milestone is a testament to their boundless creativity," said Tim Cook, Apple CEO, emphasizing commitment to developer tools.
Since 2019, the ecosystem has seen nearly threefold growth, with billings more than tripling in the United States and Europe, while sales in China have more than doubled over six years.
