- In the 2nd District, where U.S. Rep. Shomari Figures seeks reelection, the Black population will shift from half to about 40% under the new lines. Black residents maintain a slight majority in the new 7th District, held by U.S. Rep. Terri Sewell.
- Six Republicans compete to challenge Figures, including top fundraiser state Rep. Rhett Marques, who holds an endorsement from Trump. Two Republicans, Ammie Akin and David Perry, are vying for the nomination to unseat Sewell.
- With 84 days until the 2026 midterm elections, the Associated Press will monitor vote tallies for these districts. Polls close at 7 p.m. CT, which is 8 p.m. ET.
