- The National Investigation Agency claimed Waze sought to regain his "lost glory" as a "super cop" by extorting money, while conspirators used "benami" SIM cards and "nil panchnamas" to create fake alibis.
- Accused face trial for murder, extortion, and conspiracy under the Indian Penal Code, Unlawful Activities Act, and Explosive Substances Act; Sharma and others are out on bail while Waze remains in judicial custody.
- Investigators alleged the group destroyed digital video recorders and CCTV footage to cover up the crime. Waze also allegedly posted "Agle baar connect ho kar ayega" on Telegram to feign terrorist involvement.
