Illegal Thai School Found to Be Caring for 89 Israeli Children
On Saturday, Thai security forces raided an illegal preschool on Koh Phangan, discovering 89 Israeli children aged 2 to 12 after social media complaints about foreigners operating an unregistered educational institution.
While licensed to care for up to 18 children, the facility known as Arki operated with more than 100 students, prompting authorities to arrest Iranian couple Aydin Kishipour and Nadin Kishipour, both 45, and Thai woman Prathumthip Yuen, 61.
The Nation reported operators face charges including "employing foreign nationals without work permits," breaching the Child Protection Act, and operating an unauthorized private school. Several employees were also arrested for working without permits.
Thai authorities stated the investigation is continuing, with further legal action against those involved currently being considered. Police, immigration officers, and local authorities jointly conducted the operation.
This raid occurs amid rising scrutiny of foreign-run businesses in Thailand; while 31,892 Israelis were officially in the country in March, recent attacks on Hebrew speakers in Koh Samui reflect growing anti-Israeli sentiments.
