Anna Faris 'Hurt' by Chuck Lorre's Comments
She said the memoir comments hurt, but she is healthy, working and happier after stepping back from acting to address depression and drinking.
Anna Faris responded on Instagram this week to Mom creator Chuck Lorre's new memoir Sitcom, which alleged her 2020 departure was for "mysterious reasons" and claimed his initial reluctance to cast her was "in fact, correct."
Lorre's memoir, released October 13, detailed his early doubts about casting Faris in the CBS comedy, writing that her unexpected exit validated his initial concerns about her suitability for the role. He characterized her departure as "for mysterious reasons that were not mysterious to anyone on the show."
Faris posted on Instagram Oct. 15, admitting the comments "hurt" but expressing gratitude for her seven years on the series. She emphasized she is now "happier than I've been in a long time."
The 49-year-old actress revealed she has been sober for 18 months, stating "I was on a show about recovery and then I lived it." She credited this transformation for her improved mental health and career outlook.
Faris has recently returned to acting, starring in the Scary Movie revival this year, and continues to advocate for others in recovery. She wrote, "If anyone reading this is where I was, I hope that's useful.
