YouTube Star IShowSpeed to Voice Anime Series Produced by Big Shot Pictures
Matt Owens will write the series, which features an animated version of the 52-million-subscriber streamer and is being shopped to buyers soon.
- Former Paramount Pictures co-CEO Brian Robbins launched Big Shot Pictures earlier this year, and the studio is now developing an anime series starring YouTube creator IShowSpeed. The project features an animated version of the 21-year-old streamer.
- Matt Owens, who served as co-showrunner on Netflix's One Piece before stepping away last year, is writing the series. Owens produces alongside Robbins and filmmaker Harmony Korine.
- Backed by around $100 million in venture funding, Big Shot Pictures launched with support from Sony Pictures Entertainment, Greycroft, and CAA. The studio maintains a first-look theatrical distribution deal with Sony.
- "Being able to create something like this is a dream come true," IShowSpeed said. The studio also acquired rights to the Eloise at the Plaza children's book series for multi-platform adaptation.
- While Big Shot plans to take the package to market in the coming months, the anime series currently has no release date. The project bridges the creator economy and the popular anime genre.
