Andrei Vasilevskiy receives NHL’s Vezina Trophy as top goaltender
On Saturday, the National Hockey League announced Tampa Bay Lightning goaltender Andrei Vasilevskiy as the 2025-2026 Vezina Trophy winner, marking the 31-year-old Russian's second career honor.
NHL general managers selected Vasilevskiy after he earned 114 points with 17 first-place votes across 28 ballots, reflecting his dominant performance throughout the season.
While leaving Benchmark International Arena, Vasilevskiy was surprised by Tampa Bay police officers investigating "suspicious activity" near his vehicle; they had snuck the physical trophy into his car.
Vasilevskiy posted 39 wins with a 2.31 goals-against average and.912 save percentage, helping the Lightning reach their ninth consecutive postseason and becoming the sixth goalie to record nine 30-win seasons.
Signed for two more seasons in Tampa, Vasilevskiy credited his teammates, saying, "But it's all about the team and you will never win this award without a good team in front of you.
