An MLB pitching prospect in Charlotte is also an overqualified local sportswriter
The 26-year-old right-hander is ranked 30th in the White Sox system and has logged 53 strikeouts in 48 1/3 innings this season.
Major League Baseball prospect Duncan Davitt of the White Sox has spent his spring and summer playing for the Charlotte Knights at Truist Field.
Recalling a drive from Indianola, Iowa, 17 years ago, Davitt remembers his father Mark questioning his ambition, to which he replied, "I'm, like, 9."
In 10 games, Davitt has recorded 53 strikeouts over 48 1/3 innings while allowing 38 runs, balancing duties as both reliever and starter.
Making his MLB debut in April, Davitt pitched one scoreless inning, throwing 14 pitches and allowing zero runs at the highest level.
MLB ranks Davitt as the 30th-ranked prospect for the White Sox and the organization's seventh-ranked right-handed pitcher, reflecting steady Charlotte performance.
