Horror as Brit 'Tries to Drown Stranger on Beach and Suffocate Boy, 5, in Sand'

- On Tuesday, a 44-year-old British man was arrested at Poniente Beach in Benidorm on suspicion of attempted homicide, wounding, and threats after allegedly attacking a 34-year-old Norwegian woman and a five-year-old Spanish boy.
- The suspect allegedly grabbed the woman by the neck and pushed her head underwater before seizing the boy and forcing his face into the sand. Sunbathers and a lifeguard restrained him until police arrived.
- Following his arrest, the man reportedly attempted self-harm in his police cell using a blanket, leading authorities to place him under 24/7 watch. He is now undergoing mental health evaluations at Villajoyosa Hospital under police guard.
- The National Police have yet to issue an official statement about the incident. The suspect was transferred from local police custody to the National Police force before his hospital admission.
