Americans’ concerns about AI outweigh excitement nearly threefold: Poll
An Athena Insights poll found that 65-65% of Americans are very or somewhat concerned about AI's growing role in U.S. society, while 24-24% are very or somewhat excited about it.
About 70% of respondents report that AI is already part of their lives whether they want it or not, and roughly the same percentage have difficulty distinguishing what is real due to AI.
Nearly 20 percentage points more respondents believe the U.S. government is not doing enough to address AI's impacts on various groups, including children, the environment, employees, and jobs.
Polls and reports indicate mounting worries among Americans about AI causing job loss, especially affecting young professionals with college degrees.
