Alexa Plus Will Summon a Movie Scene for You, and Prime Video Will Stream It
Alexa Plus lets Fire TV users jump to scenes by describing details using AI models from Amazon and Anthropic, covering thousands of Prime Video movies with plans to expand.
- On Wednesday, Amazon launched Alexa Plus on Fire TV to let users describe a scene and have Prime Video jump directly to that moment.
- Alexa+, unveiled last March, extends Amazon's prior X-Ray capabilities, which have integrated AI for years, while last month the company launched AI-powered series recaps.
- Using Amazon Bedrock and models like Amazon Nova and Anthropic Claude, the feature analyzes visual cues, captions, and X-Ray data to find timestamps within indexed Prime Video titles and starts playback within seconds.
- For viewers, the feature requires being inside Amazon's ecosystem as it needs a Fire TV device plus a Prime or Prime Video subscription, and Alexa+ will remain free for Prime members or cost $19.99 a month standalone.
- Amazon plans to expand the feature to more films and TV shows soon, following its September hardware announcement and recent Prime Video innovations.
