UCF Football Matches Single-Game Scoring Record in Blowout of Bethune-Cookman
Alonza Barnett III threw for 158 yards and a touchdown in his debut as UCF scored on 10 of 12 drives.
On Thursday, the UCF Knights defeated the Bethune-Cookman Wildcats 73-6 at the Acrisure Bounce House, setting a program record for the largest margin of victory.
Opening their 11th consecutive season with a win, the Knights improved to 30-1 against Football Championship Subdivision programs since 1996 and have defeated the Wildcats nine straight times.
Quarterback Alonza Barnett III threw for 158 yards in his debut, while running back Duke Watson rushed for 110 yards and a 64-yard touchdown; safety Jayden Williams added a 47-yard interception return for a score.
Bethune-Cookman received a $400,000 payment from UCF for the game, with head coach Raymond Woodie Jr.'s team returning to Daytona Beach for their next four home games.
Next Saturday, the Wildcats host Stetson for an all-Volusia County showdown, while the Knights travel to play Pittsburgh on Sept. 12.
