Alleged Wire Tapping: Court To Rule On El-Rufai’s No-Case Submission October 26

- On Tuesday, Justice Joyce Abdulmalik of the Federal High Court in Abuja adjourned the ruling on a no-case submission filed by former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai until October 26, 2026.
- El-Rufai faces an amended five-count charge for allegedly eavesdropping on conversations of National Security Adviser Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, with the Department of State Services having closed its case in June.
- Defense lawyer Paul Erokoro argued the prosecution failed to establish a prima facie case, while DSS counsel Oluwole Aladedoyin urged the court to compel El-Rufai to enter his defense, citing Exhibit B as an alleged confession.
- Earlier, defense counsel Akinyemi Aremu requested the matter be stood down, but Justice Abdulmalik refused, stating, "I do not do stand downs," and ordered Aremu to proceed with arguments immediately.
- El-Rufai remains on £100 million bail following the court's rejection of his request to vary conditions, and has pleaded not guilty to the charges brought by the Federal Government.
