Frenchman Alireza Firouzja has won the fourth edition of the Chennai Grand Masters chess tournament, securing the title with a draw against Indian GM Arjun Erigaisi in the final round. Firouzja finished with 4.5 points, taking home a prize purse of Rs 25 lakh.
India's number one player and Telangana boy Irigeshi Arjun emerged as the second runner-up in the Chennai Grand Masters tournament. Arjun, who had raised hopes of the title, drew the game with French Grandmaster Alireza Firouzha after 41 moves in the final, seventh round on Wednesday.
