Alexandra Lodge, a gold rush-era landmark, survives B.C. wildfire
Alexandra Lodge, a historic gold rush-era building in southwestern British Columbia, survived a nearby wildfire that threatened it.
The BC Wildfire Service reported that the leading edge of the fire passed by the lodge, which is located next to the Trans-Canada Highway in Fraser Canyon.
Fire crews are mopping up around the lodge and assessing and removing dangerous trees to ensure safety.
Shirley MacKinnon, the lodge's owner, expressed relief and gratitude for the public support after restoring the building for several years and is eager to continue caring for it.
