If anyone can avert a cyber crisis at Albert Heijn, it is Margaret Versteden-Van Duijn. Former colleagues describe her as extremely analytical and intelligent. Who is this woman, who introduced free tampons in the workplace and once forgot the ten-minute parent-teacher conference at school?
The shelves at various Albert Heijn supermarkets are becoming increasingly empty due to the cyber incident at the company. This is especially true in the fruit and vegetable department, ANP reporters observe.
Albert Heijn first started by restoring the systems related to store inventory. This was stated by the supermarket chain's top executive, Margaret Versteden-Van Duijn, on the program Eva. She did not disclose the cause of the cybersecurity incident, as AH itself calls it.
Because supermarket chains focus on efficiency and maximizing profits, stores and distribution centers hold hardly any inventory.
Albert Heijn will 'restart certain systems in a controlled manner' and has 'no indications that data from customers, employees, or other companies has been stolen'. CEO Margaret Versteden-van Duijn said this regarding the cyber incident at Ahold on the TV program Eva. "Balances from the savings program are safe; that money remains reserved," she also said.
