Alan Jones accuser sent lewd text to 'curry favour'
The complainant said he messaged Jones to curry favour and testified that the broadcaster’s power left him intimidated for years.
On Tuesday, complainant 'C' faced cross-examination about text messages sent to former radio host Alan Jones, with defense counsel arguing the communications contradict his indecent assault allegations.
Jones, the 85-year-old former radio host, faces 22 charges of indecent assault and sexual touching involving six men, alleged to have occurred during his 35-year broadcasting career.
The complainant described Jones as "the most powerful person in Australia," testifying he felt pressured to maintain contact and reported the alleged abuse to radio rival Ray Hadley.
Admitting to sending lewd messages, the complainant told the court he did so to "curry favour" with Jones, denying the exchanges were intended to be "titillating."
Defense barrister Gabrielle Bashir SC is challenging the credibility of the evidence, accusing the complainant of "rewriting history" regarding his interactions with the accused.
