Alabama lawmaker calls time out on his bill to rebuild AHSAA’s power structure

A south Alabama state senator and former high school football coach said Tuesday he is “tapping the brakes” on legislation that would add political appointees to the Alabama High School Athletic Association’s Central Board of Control.Sen. Donnie Chesteen, R-Geneva, a former high school football coach, said he had conversations with coaches, superintendents, and others on Friday that he believes could lead to positive change at the AHSAA.
